Job Description
Performance & Prevention - Targeted Intervention Lead Role
The Performance & Prevention programme is a strategic partnership between NZ Football and ACC to develop injury prevention strategies and interventions and support their delivery through education pathways. The Performance & Prevention leads work in partnership with football stakeholders to lead the implementation of the programme, as well as developing programme resources for use within the coach education and development pathways.
Key responsibilities will include:
Working with NZF’s Football Development team to embed injury prevention strategies into the coach and development pathway
Delivery of injury prevention education of leaders and coach educators within the football system
We’re looking for people with a recognised sports health, sports science or physical education qualification, with demonstrated understanding of injury prevention, sports performance and education programmes in sport, including current science and trends. You’ll need excellent relationship management skills as well as the ability to work unsupervised.
Desired Skills and Experience
Education
A recognised sports, health, sports science degree
Experience
A minimum of 2 years’ experience of successfully and positively working with diverse stakeholders
and healthcare professionals within sport, education and/or the health field.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing and delivering injury prevention and/or
rehabilitation programmes and/or interventions.
Experience in facilitation, teaching, coaching and/or adult education. Proven experience in working
with professional staff.
Experience in working in partnership with volunteers.
Proven experience in developing and/or delivering injury prevention, strength and conditioning
and/or rehabilitation programmes/interventions.
Knowledge
An understanding of injury prevention, sports performance and education programmes in sport,
including current science and trends.
Knowledge of sport development with a strong understanding of the NZ context.
Knowledge of coach and player development with an understanding of the football context in NZ.
Skills
Proven ability to sell initiatives and motivate others in a results-focused environment.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
An ability to work unsupervised and take ownership of problems.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
Ability to effectively sell initiatives within and outside of the sport.
Communicates openly and honestly in a way that promotes trust and understanding.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Embraces change positively and actively seeks new and improved ways to do things.
Achieves outcomes and results through influencing the way resources are utilised as well as in
managing them directly.
This is a Fixed Term opportunity until 31 December 2026.
