Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a psychologist to work and create significant influence with our national and age group football teams. There will be room for autonomy to shape a performance psychology programme, in the way you see fit alongside some world-class coaches.

The position will work collaboratively with the Lead Psychologist to deliver performance psychology to our NZF football teams. This role will help provide support through the implementation of evidence-based performance psychology strategies. 

Desired Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who is a NZ registered psychologist, as well as experience of working within a high-performance sport environments where you’ve provided performance psychology to athletes and coaches to improve performance. 

To be successful in this role you’ll need an understanding of the principles and concepts of performance enhancement skills, without compromising on wellbeing.  Additionally, you need to be well versed in performance psychology intervention techniques to help teams embrace pressure.  Finally, you will also need to have an understanding of mental health, in order to support the wellbeing of players and tools in a range of support services.

This is a part-time contract for services role with the expectation of approximately 4-5 days per month.

The successful applicant must be either a registered Psychologist, trained and registered counsellor, or an individual who is an accredited member of a relevant professional organisation such as Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand (SESNZ).
